Who is a Product Owner?

Product Owner is the person/role responsible for owning the lifecycle of a product. It is more of a role than a specific person. The product owner would take a product from inception to planning to build to operations to discontinuation/transition. Along the life of a product, the product owner would make critical decisions on the direction a product would take. A number of these decisions would be towards successful operations of the product.
